Ms. Flores’s prekindergarten had an amazing End of The Year celebration. Thank you to all the parents that attended and to the staff for making this event a great success!

Parents were welcomed to the End of The Year celebration prepared by the teacher and support staff. Students were able to perform for their parents/visitors using kinesthetic exercises. They danced to the tune "Jungle Animals Song." It was followed by the presentations of the student's certificates and portfolios. Our parents were invited to take pictures with their kids and the classes forest decorations. Finally, parents and students were invited for some refreshments.

The 3rd and 4th graders at the Thomas Jefferson School participated in a multiplication challenge at the end of the year led by our Math coach Mr. Eric Licamara. The students who completed their facts correctly in 5 minutes celebrated by enjoying a Kona Ice treat provided by Mr. Celebrano and the administrators at Jefferson. Great Job students. Keep up the good work! Have a great summer!

The Public Speaking Club led by Mr. Rodriguez, celebrated their first competition. These past few months they were learning about writing a speech, how to deliver a message, how to engage an audience, and the proper use of a microphone. Mrs. Acinapura, Mrs. Chica & Mrs. Logothetis were our judges. Congratulations to all the winners and everyone that participated in this event.

The Thomas Jefferson School would like to thank our Union City Mayor Brian P. Stack and the Union City Board of Education for our beautiful playground. Our students love it!

As part of the After-School Innovative Programs, the Jefferson School Music Club, directed by Mr. Rodriguez, was able to complete an End of School Year performance. Students sang a mix of songs of the 1980's and from movies. They rocked it!

On June 19th, we celebrate the 159th Anniversary of the end of slavery in 1865 in the United States, which is known today as Juneteenth. It is a combination of the month of  'June' and the 'nineteenth' day that commemorates the happy news of newly-freed slaves in Texas at the end of the Civil War.

We have been continuing to integrate Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables into the schools in creative ways while increasing student interest in trying new foods. Mrs. Michael's & Ms. Galasso's Buddy Reading Activity turned out to be outstanding. First, the third-grade students read to their younger buddies. Afterwards, the first-grade students worked with the third graders on drawing and interpreting their favorite parts of the books they read. Both classes enjoyed this unique activity and they were looking forward to reading together!
