Thomas Jefferson's After-School Innovative Programs presented a parent workshop provided by Rising Tide Capital titled, "How to Start your Business". Parents are excited in becoming entrepreneurs. It was a truly informative event for everyone in attendance.

Kindergarten students at the Thomas Jefferson School were part of the Black History Month Music Showcase. Mr. Rodriguez, our Music Teacher, taught them iconic songs that recognize the achievements, struggles and hard work of the African American community. They performed in such a professional way with great enthusiasm and dedication. We are proud of our little Jaguars!

Mrs. Tello's Kindergarten class, in honor of the 100th day of school year, read the story, "Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day," by Joseph Slate. Students then counted to 100 to complete different projects and dressed as if they were 100 years old.

During Black History Month, Mrs. Romero's First Grade class honors and commemorates the remarkable achievements of special individuals across history. This significant period invites us to reflect on the enduring legacies of inspiring figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and Harriet Tubman, who tirelessly advocated for equality and justice.

A special thank you to Ms. Carreira, Second Grade Chairperson, for preparing the perfect attendance certificates for our students. We are proud to present the second marking period perfect attendance awards.

Students in Mrs. Logothetis's Fourth Grade Class at Thomas Jefferson School entered the "Young Writers' Spooky Sagas" contest in the Fall. Congratulations to the winners!

Fourth Grade Student Keira Cuyuch from the Jefferson School represented the Union City School District at the Scripps National Spelling Bee held at the Hudson Schools of Technology in Secaucus. She made it to the Top 25 of the best spellers of the county. We are so proud of her!

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. President has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.

Ms. Carreira’s Second Grade class read books and articles about Martin Luther King Jr.’s dreams for our nation. We discussed our own dreams for ourselves, our community and the world around us. Hence, we created "I Have a Dream" mobiles.

Students in Mrs. Saroli's Second Grade class read stories and learned facts about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They also learned about his "Dream" and were able to make connections to what they dream for our world today.
