Read Across America has taken off at the Jefferson School as Mrs. Ramirez's 3rd grade students are having fun while reading and enjoying silly hat day.

After reading "The Jelly Donut Difference: Sharing Kindness with the World" by Maria Dismondy, we thought about ways we can show kindness to our friends at school. We wrote about our acts of kindness and created donuts sprinkled with kindness words. The book is a testament to the power of kindness, caring and generosity.

Congratulations to our 3rd and 4th grade students during the recent Math Challenge at the Jefferson School. They are truly talented and have an excellent future in the Union City School District.

Students in Mrs. Figueroa's 3rd grade class at the Jefferson School learned about Black History Month. Each student researched, created a project and presented it in front of their peers to highlight a famous African-American in history that has changed the United States, in honor of Black History Month.

At the Jefferson School, we celebrated our first Valentine's Day Music Showcase under Mr. Rodriguez's direction. Students from Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades performed songs about friendship, respect as well as love. It was an opportunity for our kids to perform in public with a healthy vocal technique and musicality.

The Jefferson School students really enjoyed celebrating 100 Days of school as we continue with the 2022-2023 academic year. Specifically, students in Pre-K and Kindergarten celebrated 100 days of school by dressing up, engaging in classroom activities and expressing themselves through their writing. They are truly talented.

Congratulations to our Jaguar Scientists who participated in the Union City Science Fair and received multiple awards. They are truly gifted students and an excellent example to the Union City School District.

For the month of January, Chartwells promoted the theme of The “Great American Road Trip”. The students learned how different foods are grown as well as produced and what the most popular ones were in particular regions of this country.

Ms. Marone's class celebrated the Lunar New Year by reading The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac and learning how each animal was chosen to be part of the zodiac. They wrote and made decorations and drawings to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit. They enjoyed some Chinese food for lunch as part of the celebration.
