In honor of St. Patrick's Day, students were able to view a beautiful bagpipe musical presentation, kindly brought to us by one of our Jaguar parents. Mr. Nisbet played for all our Jefferson students and spoke to the Kindergarten class about his instrument and the attire worn by bagpipers. The children were very excited and thankful for such a wonderful experience.🍀

There are very important highlights concerning the focus of raising student interest in fruit as well as vegetable consumption by increasing the usage of locally grown food and much more. Students in Mrs. Figueroa’s 3rd grade class at the Jefferson School practiced Social Emotional Learning by writing down their goals on petal shaped construction paper. Once their goals were achieved, they created their own flower that bloomed with all their accomplishments.

The school community at the Jefferson School celebrated National School Social Work Week (March 5-11). We are grateful for Dianne Nieves, School Social Worker, and her commitment to the students at our school. #NationalSchoolSocialWorkWeek

It was an amazing SEL Week at the Jefferson School. Mrs. Saroli’s Second Grade students watched SEL videos on Brainpop. Subsequently, the students worked in groups and had to explain how they would feel and think about what they would do to help a specific situation using SEL task cards.

Ms. Marone's class read The Jelly Donut Difference about friendship and making people feel special by doing kind things for them. They created a "Do-lightful Acts of Kindness" board with all their acts of kindness. The board will be posted in the classroom as a constant reminder of the importance of being good friends.

In Ms. Carreira's second grade classroom, after reading "I Am Human" by Susan Verde, the students had a class discussion on what it means to be a human. Essentially, we have dreams, we are curious, we make mistakes, we feel sad and we can make positive changes. After the discussion, they completed our "I Am Human Roll and Respond Activity" in groups.

4th Grade students at the Jefferson School participated in a sweet potato nutrition lesson taught by Alicia Lusardi, the Chartwells Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. They sampled sweet potato chips, played matching games and used a graphic organizer to compare different types of potatoes.

Read Across America Week 📚 concluded with a special visit from the Cat in the Hat and Sam I Am! Today students received a new book in honor of Read Across America Day. The books were provided by First Book. First Book is a national non-profit social enterprise dedicated to ensuring educational equality.

Students and staff celebrated 📚#ReadAcrossAmerica📚 by wearing their wackiest outfits! Wacky Wednesday was a success.✨
