Background
My name is Eric Licamara and I am the Math Coach at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. I have taught in Union City for 11 years. I was a 5th grade teacher for six years and a 6th grade teacher for three years. This is my second year as a math coach for the district. I grew up in Secaucus, New Jersey and graduated High School from there in 2000. Along with coaching math at Jefferson, I also coach varsity football at Secaucus. I enjoy all sports, but football is my second passion behind teaching. I come from a family of teachers. My mom was a teacher, along with my aunt, two cousins, and my brother. I guess you can say it is in my blood.
Philosophy
My philosophy to teaching young learners is very simple. They are all different, and they all learn in different ways. Some students pick up on topics easily, and some students need more time to completely understand what they are learning. Some students are visual learners, and some can learn by just listening to the teacher. The objective is to meet all the different needs of the students so they can be successful in school and in life. I am in this school to help both the teachers and the students meet and exceed the standards set forth by the state of New Jersey.
