High Institute for Teacher Ruben Martinez Villena - Bachelor of Sciences: Computer
Teacher of Preschool Through Grade 3
Computer Science K-12
My name is Mayelin Romero. It is my 12th year of teaching. During my four years at Jefferson Elementary School, I am teaching Kindergarten Bilingual.
I love teaching, and I especially love teaching the children in Jefferson - Go Jaguars!
I was born and raised in Havana, Cuba, at the Guines Valley. In 2008 I moved to the United States with my family.
I graduated "Ruben Martinez Villena" University in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science Education. Later I attended NJCU and earned my Pre School, ESL, and BilingualTeacher Certification. I look forward to many more years of teaching the brilliant students at Jefferson School.
I’m available to meet with parents/guardians virtually to discuss student progress. Please call our Parent Liaison (Nancy Francisco) at 201-348-5960, ext. 78101 to schedule an appointment.

Classroom Procedures and Policies:
Homework: I give homework every day, except on Fridays (sometimes a review will be given for a test the following week), holidays, and breaks. Homework consists of 1 math, 1 reading, and 1 spelling/phonics.
Tests: Every Friday I give the class their spelling, writing, and reading tests. Please take a picture and send all tests the following school day. Math tests will be announced a week before the test is given with the exact date. School Folders (in-person learning only): Every day your child will bring home a homework folder with all of their homework and important information. Please take a few minutes to review the papers and comments, sign and date all tests, and return it to school with your child the next day. You can also write me a note with any concerns/questions and place them inside their folder or through email at email@example.com
