Biography
Hello! My name is Gisselle Martinez. I completed my elementary and high school education in Union City. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology from Saint Peter's University. It is an honor to be now teaching in the same district that provided me with such a great education. I earned my Master's degree from New Jersey City University in Urban Education, with certifications in ESL and Bilingual Education. I also earned a second Master's in Reading from New Jersey City University. This will be my eighteenth year of teaching. I believe that a child’s success in education comes from everyone working together with the child's best interest at heart. It is an honor for me to be a part of your child's education, and I look forward to working together to provide the best education possible.

Classroom Procedures and Policies
School Folders - Students have a yellow take-home folder. Please make sure to review it daily for any paperwork and return it to school on the following day.
Homework - Check your child's planner and classroom website for daily homework. Students should not take longer than 40 minutes to complete homework.
Assessment, Test, and Quizzes- A Reading Test will be given at the end of the novel. Reading quizzes will be given at the end of every couple of chapters to check for understanding. Math tests will be announced a week in advance as they are provided at the end of each chapter. I will review the material with students at school and give them ample notice so they have time to review it at home. Most of the test students will take will be on their Chromebooks. Therefore, please make sure you have a PowerSchool parent account to keep track of their progress throughout the year.
