Biography
Hello! My name is Gisselle Martinez. I completed my elementary and high school education in Union City. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology from Saint Peter's University. It is an honor to now be teaching in the same district that provided me with such a great education. I earned my Master's from New Jersey City University in Urban Education with an ESL Certification and Bilingual Certification. I also earned a second Masters in Reading from New Jersey City University. This will be my seventeenth year of teaching. I believe that a child’s success in education comes from everyone working together with the child's best interest at heart. It is an honor for me to be a part of your child's education and I look forward to working together to provide the best education possible.

Classroom Procedures and Policies
School Folders - Every Friday your child will bring home a folder with all of their graded work and important information. Please take a few minutes to review the papers and comments, sign and date it, and return it to school with your child on Monday.
Homework - Check your child's planner and classroom website for daily homework. Students should not take longer than 40 minutes to complete homework.
Assessment, Test, and Quizzes- Every Friday students will take a vocabulary test for the words of the week. A Reading Test will be given at the end of the novel. Reading quizzes will be given at the end of every couple of chapters to check for understanding. Math tests will be announced a week in advance as they are provided at the end of each chapter. I will review the material with students at school and give them ample notice so they have time to review it at home.
