Jefferson Students Study and Paint the Chauvet Cave Project

Thomas Jefferson School Artist-in-Residence Program with Mr. Kevin Brooks The Chauvet Cave Project Named after Jean-Marie Chauvet, this cave was discovered on December 18, 1994, in the South of France by 3 cavers, who were exploring the area.  the Paleolithic arts dates between c. 36,000 and c.32,000 years ago.  The cave has been granted UNESCO World Heritage status. Thomas Jefferson School, students artists, re-created painting, learning new techniques of painting... working with torn pieces of tracing paper, semi-gloss gel, acrylic paint and using dappling techniques with paper towels.
