Biography:

Teaching is a “special calling”.   This phrase might seem trite; however, it is true. My desire to work with children to make a meaningful difference in their lives as well as the world, some would say, is a calling. I simply say, “It’s my passion. “I have been teaching since 1981. My expertise is in Reading/Writing where I have taught High School English, and 7th and 8th grade English/Reading. For years, I have been the “Reading Specialist” at Jefferson School incorporating my reading/comprehension strategies in all grades and classes. Since 2010, I have been teaching 4^th grade here at Jefferson School. I take pride in helping my students learn and succeed by employing “multiple intelligences” targeting ALL students’ needs. . I am inspirational which shows in my passion about teaching. I am also very attentive to the progress of my students. Changing a child’s life is an emotional honor that cannot be measured in words. It is a feeling of personal strength of accomplishment shared with another individual, a child. These pinnacle moments are life long memories. These special memories become more than accomplishments, they become more stories added to memoirs. I look forward to teaching your child this year. “By learning you will teach; by teaching you will understand”.

Classroom Procedures and Policies

School Planner - Everyday your child will bring home a HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT SCHEDULE with their daily homework written. They also have a Homework Folder with important information. PLEASE LOOK AT THE FOLDER DAILY. If you need to inform me with anything; you can write the information in the planner.

Homework - Will be given daily

Assessment, Test and Quizzes- Every Friday students will take a Spelling and Vocabulary Test. They will take a reading comprehension test when a passage or Novel has been completed. Math tests will be announced in advance.  I will review with students at school and give them ample notice so they have time to review the material at home. ALL TESTS MUST BE SIGNED. Please take a few minutes to review the papers and comments, sign and date it, and return it to school with your child the next day.
