Thomas Jefferson School Student of the Month Program

The Student of the Month Program at Thomas Jefferson School recognizes students from each grade level, every month, for academic achievement, character, leadership, and citizenship. The student of the month must be a diligent student, complete all assignments on time; show a strong effort to learn; be prepare for class; demonstrate classroom exemplar class behavior, class preparation, class participation and a willingness to do and to be their very best and help to create a positive school environment.

 

RATIONALE: The Thomas Jefferson School Student of the Month Program hopes to celebrate student achievement by creating a culture of learning that values academic success, as well as elevates awareness of student contributions to the entire student learning community.

  

CRITERIA FOR NOMINATIONS:


Academic

The student…

has made significant progress in your classroom;
completes all assignments and homework;
has a strong work ethic.

 

 Leadership/Citizenship/Character

The student…

demonstrates respect of self and others
assists others;
demonstrates a positive attitude/role model;
exhibits good conduct;
participates and puts forth effort in all areas;
follows school rules.

PROCESS:

  1. All nomination forms will require the student’s name, a student picture, and a short written explanation as to why the student should be selected and recognized for the award.
  2. Grade level and special subject teachers will nominate 1 student each month.
  3. Nominations must be sent to Isabel Castillo.
  4. Selected students will be showcased on the “Student of the Month” bulletin board and school website; and receive a certificate of recognition.
